Traced Anime Bases Must Die by genkistamps Traced Anime Bases Must Die by genkistamps
Yeah, I know there are stamps on the subject. Bite me.

I fucking hate traced anime bases. Traced bases aren't art or bases, it's art theft, you morons. You aren't artists for tracing over someone else's artwork. You're a hack.

Stop polluting DA with your traced crap and your poorly recolored traced crap.

Freehanding a base is better because you're just using the pose and no one can own a pose.

I feel that when you use bases, it's not your art. I tried it once and I felt as if I wasn't even making my own art

its okay to use bases if your just practicing but if someone uses one and claims it to be their own original content and/or doesnt give credit to the original persons work i consider that stealing. I'm still trying to find my own style of drawing so i tend to use bases as reference. I'm still working on proportions so i cant say that I'm totally good but i know that some day i will be good!!! I support bases but i do not support thieves!

Ok so... I use bases sometimes on my art. Big deal! When ever I do use them I never post them online. I use them for practice. I am a teenager and I need help on drawing. But what I don't do is copy them on ms paint and draw hair and  clothes on them. So bases aren't that bad.  It's people that don't use them right that are bad.

Bases are for practices^^ I dont think its stupid :/ Artist usually use them for practice then, Once they can handle it without base, They can draw art without bases^^

Also its best to give credit to the owner of the original image from your base so everyone can know its copyright C:

Im just putting my opinion here C: And I agree with your comment C:

When people say that tracing other people's drawings or using such traced images as bases that they got better at drawing, then I think
1)So, adding a bit of color to a base did really cause so much improvement? THEN IMAGINE HOW MUCH MORE YOU COULD HAVE IMPROVED BY PRACTISING ON YOUR OWN. _ HOW could you get any better by just slapping some details at them, anyway? I don't magically automatically learn to drive a car while carrying a bycicle down the stairs. It's just not how it works.
If anything, you may become great at editing bases, but once you draw on your own completely, starting with an own base, for the first time you will miserabily fail.
2.) Just saying that you copy the original creator's FLAWS AND ERRORS too! So much for improvement.
3.) if you want to get a better grasp how to draw poses and anatomy, then take references from real life. And no, not stright-up trace photos, you won't learn much by that. Study them. And LEARN.

gosh, you can't learn how to draw while you are not learning how to draw because you don't even draw.

Brb carrying a bycicle down the stairs.

What if it isn't tracing, what if it's copying but the people can't draw good like that themselves, but they are really good at copying the line art and showing the world their talent, there are so many copycat artists, they are praised for their work, and i'am proud to be a copycat artist...i'm just sharing ^^

You're proud to be a thief?

That's not talented, sorry. My little brother can trace my artwork but he himself can't draw for shit (He's admitted that).

You want to be good? Sit down and practice like the rest of us, you lazy resource-waster.

Copycat isn't being a thief, it's copying, those people you are talking about probably don't ask permission, but if they do, then back off, because then they have the power to do whatever they want, and you can't do anything about it. I practice a lot, hours actually, then i look at other peoples work to get inspired, like if i need help with a certain angle that i can't get right on my own. There's no use insulting me, or anyone else, and who's the rest of us? :) have a great day.

I believe that using a base is stealing someone else's art. Recolours are despised throughout the community, what makes traced anime bases different?

Still, it's arguably a criminal offense. Someone worked hard on the drawing no matter where they are and because some shithead teenagers wanted to take a shortcut, their hard work is stolen.

All pictures that I turned into bases oftenly are Official art and some popular fanart.
I always found them on google or sometimes random sceerenshoots on FB.
So.. I always dunno who's the original creator.
And I have my own reason why I did put the rules and order Base-users to link back to my devinatioin.

1. I will take all the responsibility on my own. If the owner founds it, and didn't accept my actions, or probably reported me, I would accept it ^_^ It's my own risk. I'm not scared.

2. To make sure none of my base users didn't do anything stupid with the base. It's not 100% mine, so, I couldn't just leave my duty and ignored what the base-users doing with the base. ( Ex: Screw or maybe blame the original creator like: 'Nah, mine are better' or 'Hey, are you copying my art?' okay that just ridicilous -_-)

3. No Frankledolling... --" Yeah seriously.. once again, the base isn't 100% mine. It's still the creator's art! I'm just sharing for FUN :D

If you don't know who the original creator is, don't make a base from it. You're not even crediting the creator.
