Traced Anime Bases Must Die by genkistamps Traced Anime Bases Must Die by genkistamps
Yeah, I know there are stamps on the subject. Bite me.

I fucking hate traced anime bases. Traced bases aren't art or bases, it's art theft, you morons. You aren't artists for tracing over someone else's artwork. You're a hack.

Stop polluting DA with your traced crap and your poorly recolored traced crap.

I can draw with using reference. And I don't wanna draw by my head, it's hard and stupid.

it might not be, but neither is having your artwork turned into bald, naked figures for other people to spend 5 minutes slapping some colours on in MS Paint.

I'd say this is pretty gentle compared to that fuckassery.

If someone uses a base it's because they don't have any ideas of what to draw.

so they'll just take someone else's work that's been turned into a bald, naked figure and slap some colours on in MS paint?

it's not that hard to just find shit to draw.

It is if you're not inspired to draw or can't come up with something

how hard is it to come up with something to draw? look, here's an idea: a giraffe attempting to interact with an iPad. You see? Not hard. A race of bosoms going into space to find a new bosom homeworld to all live in harmony in. A cup of milk being held between someone's bosoms. A bunch of giraffe bosoms going off to find a new bosom homeworld while cradling iPads and cups of milk between their bosoms.

there's literally no excuse to scribble over the bastardization of someone else's art. Though considering your OC is p much an amy rose recolour, and you appear to be about 13 years old, i suppose that's a bit too much for your mind to comprehend.

It is pretty hard to come up with something to draw if your litteraly out of ideas my mom used to draw amazing she stopped drawing because she couldnt come up with anything, now her drawing skills aren't the same, people need bases to come up with ideas because they're mind is not being creative, because if they dont come with ideas they won't draw, if they still dont come up with any ideas for example my mom she didnt draw for 6 months because she couldnt come up with anything, the person will lose theyre drawing skills and have to start again

you do not need cheap, stolen bases to 'come up with ideas'. there's never an outflux of ideas; and trust me, i've had artists' block before. not once since i was 12 have i turned to naked, bald girls for 'an idea'. Really, you're just drawing on hair and clothes.

you don't 'lose your drawing skills' that's not possible. they get a bit rusty, but you rarely forget what you've learned.

there is no excuse to steal someone else's art for 'drawing ideas'.

Well the one that makes the bases is the one who has to ask if they can make a base out of the original artist's drawing if they just steal it they won't say and the person who used the base doesnt know so it isnt really the person who uses the bases fault, and yes a person CAN lose their drawing skills because theyre mossels grow and change the mind does remember how to draw but not the same as before

No, that rarely happens actually. Often they just take an image, make it bald and naked, and then post it - often without links to the original artist. And then they have the gall to ask them for credit.

Look, I've had artists' block before. All that happens is your art is a bit rusty.

And using bases does NOT give you ideas to draw. It gives you an excuse to be lazy. Do you want a pose? Look up some pose references from artists like senshistock.deviantart.com/ or, even just using this: www.deviantart.com/browse/all/…. It's far more effective at giving you an idea than www.deviantart.com/browse/all/…, which is an insult to artists everywhere.

Furthermore, don't use run-on sentences; you can't do them correctly.

Hey, I'll just jump in here. :'D

Yes, you are violating intellectual property when you do this sort of thing without someone's expressed permission. IP law is complicated, so I'll break it down for you:

Giving credit isn't legally enough.

Some people are cool with it all if you just give credit, but if people don't want to have their work traced, you cannot publicize any tracings of it.
They retain legal rights over their property, and they alone set the standards of what is acceptable use of their work. And unless they state that you can reference their work (often under certain conditions), you may not trace. It is a crime, because you are infringing on their intellectual property.

Think of it this way. Your friend has a car, right? But unless he gives you permission to drive it, you can't drive it. If you take it, even if you plan on returning it, it is still theft.

Source: I'm studying Intellectual Property law, as I do plan to take it as a profession. ^^

Yeah, sorry mate. :'D

Copyright law is strict to protect original artists and creators, and unless the owner says you can copy it, you cannot without it being infringement.

Again, go back to that car example I added into that last comment; you may or may not have missed it since I just edited in. ^^;

No, it's not.

However, the concept is the same thing, which is why it's an analogy.

You cannot do these things without permission. It is against the law. I hate to burst your bubble, but I came here to explain this to you nicely in hopes you would understand. :)

Like using someone else's car, you need to be sure you have permission first. Otherwise, what you have done was wrong.

no, even with credit, it's wrong.

you need to ask them, and get their explicit permission, and give them full credit and take none yourself.

I've never seen anyone do all of those things.

Freehanding a base is better because you're just using the pose and no one can own a pose.

its okay to use bases if your just practicing but if someone uses one and claims it to be their own original content and/or doesnt give credit to the original persons work i consider that stealing. I'm still trying to find my own style of drawing so i tend to use bases as reference. I'm still working on proportions so i cant say that I'm totally good but i know that some day i will be good!!! I support bases but i do not support thieves!

Ok so... I use bases sometimes on my art. Big deal! When ever I do use them I never post them online. I use them for practice. I am a teenager and I need help on drawing. But what I don't do is copy them on ms paint and draw hair and  clothes on them. So bases aren't that bad.  It's people that don't use them right that are bad.

Bases are for practices^^ I dont think its stupid :/ Artist usually use them for practice then, Once they can handle it without base, They can draw art without bases^^

Also its best to give credit to the owner of the original image from your base so everyone can know its copyright C:

Im just putting my opinion here C: And I agree with your comment C:
