Atheist is not Antitheist by genkistamps Atheist is not Antitheist by genkistamps
You know. It dawned on me.

There are so few atheists nowadays. Where did they all go?

They've been replaced by antitheists.

There is a difference. And this is just my view on it; Atheists just don't believe in a higher power. That's it. They live their lives like God doesn't exist. They don't hate religion. They just don't participate and don't see a reason for it in their lives.

Antitheists are the raving lunatics that make up organizations like Freedom From Religion and spend every waking hour bashing religion and act like their shit don't stink while they act just as bad if not worse than the Fundies they hate. They harbor hatred for religion.

I like atheists. They're bros. Antitheists are assholes and need to stfu.

So take note, antitheists. Stop with the charade and just call yourself that instead of "atheist." You're giving all the good atheists out there a bad name.

and now all sides think it is the same thing?
the "atheists are killing our religious rights" and the "no, to be a true atheist you must also hate all religion"?

Been reading the comments and, as an Atheist, this is what I would have to say to a Christian:

"I do not respect your beliefs, but I do respect your right to believe them."

It plays on the whole "You have the right o believe what you want, but you don't have the right to be correct."

I completely agree and what this artist doesn't understand (referring to genkistamps), is that religion in reality is what is bashing us. We are simply retaliating for all the hatred re receive from "raving lunatics" we are being atheist not antitheist, that's not even a word. We fight for what we believe. So stop telling us to rot in hell or to repent, if you do, guess what, we will stop.

I'm not sure that I agree that Antitheist is "not even a word". I mean, I'm an Atheist, but I am also an Antitheist. Antitheism is being against the idea of believing in a deity or deities, being against organized religion, or being against both. Personally I am against both, but I am not vocal about it. It is personal. At my core, I am opposed to Theism and organized religion, but I do not go out Christian-bashing or engage in ad hominem attacks against Theists. I am simply against it. Atheism is too simple a term to encompass my actual position on religion. That is where Antitheism comes in. You don't have to be an obnoxious douche bag to be an Antitheist, although many MANY are obnoxious douche bags.

It's obnoxious when people go around trying to prove religion is wrong
and trying to prove religion is right

HOW ABOUT WE WAIT UNTIL WE FUCKING DIE AND SEE RATHER THAN MAKING UP DEBATES

Most atheists aren't antitheists today. The antitheists are just the loudest. I myself as an atheist am perfectly ok with anybody believing whatever they want as long as they don't harass people or stick religion into politics.

There is not a difference. Anti-theists ARE atheists, just more...well, anti about it. So you're wrong about another topic. Furthermore, God doesn't exist, and a lot of atheists DO hate religion (as it is the cause of a lot of problems and slows humanity).

Also, FFR is a good cause which you clearly know nothing about. And if someone bashes religion, that's a GOOD thing. Religion deserves no respect at all.

I get accused a lot of being a god-hater or being 'an enemy of religion' just because I'm atheist and I"m like.."guys...I totally respect you and your belief. I just ask you to do the same for me :\"
I'm not trying to stop anybody from being theist...I dunno why people think I am though.

Hahaha ya but the fact is, they are our neighbors and coworkers. We still have to live and work with them the next day. I am just respectful (I am a Deist not an Atheist… but meh), well, most often respectful (I have called the Bible blasphemous before (because of Moses killing people and telling the Israelites to keep the women for themselves claiming that God told him to) and really pissed my aunt off (I use that argument on dA a lot too) lol) because I know I have to still live with them.

Even if they are total morons who say things like "well the Bible hasn't been proven wrong so it is based on fact" I don't usually say anything that would totally infuriate them because the fact is, we are stuck with them.

In terms of my personal life for things such as neighbors, I don't make it a point to bring up religion, and neither do I really actively want to associate with neighbors that are religious. That's not to say I won't be friendly or don't have any religious friends because I am and I do, however the religious friends that I keep are in the 1% of religious people that aren't totally brainwashed.

Now as for coworkers, it's kind of company policy for most places to not bring up religion at all, so I don't do it there either. I am respectful to people of all faith, however if you start talking to me about a certain aspect of it that is downright wrong, you are going to get educated. Example, one of the things I find most baffling are the people who think that God killing 99% of the world is a good thing and that he did it out of love, when it's neither good and an obvious example of what love ISN'T.

Also, the entirety of the Bible is Blasphemous, and on almost every page is God either outright murdering thousands of people or commanding others to do so. People try and claim that God and Jesus tell us to love, when it is in fact quite the opposite.

And in terms of those people who say the Bible hasn't been proven wrong...actually a good majority of it has, especially things like the prophecies, Noah's Ark, the "great flood", and the Earth being flat, etc., etc.

Yes they do, but the funny thing is, they accuse US of doing that. Whenever we show without a shadow of a doubt their own god doing something absolutely fucking horrific they get all butt hurt and whine that we took it out of context, when we didn't. It's kind of hard to take God saying it's okay to have and beat slaves, to kill people he doesn't agree with and KILLING 99 PERCENT OF THE WORLD WITH A FLOOD out of context.

LAWL, Christians, lol.

Yes! This! Exactly this!
Heck, I don't get it why they bash religion, come one! Religion is just a choice, the person is free to choose, it's a life choice, you will choose what you think it's best for you. I'm atheist of choice, and I really like the fact there are people that are religious. Religion and Atheism formed human history, are they that makes so much diversity with makes this world interesting.

People bash religion because religion is one of the main things that hurts humanity. Slows it down. It deserves no respect at all. Also, everyone is born an atheist, just saying.

I love this stamp! I've seen so many people claim to be atheist but all they ever do is literally hate on people who are religious and push their anti-belief down others' throats. I respect the belief or non-belief of everyone around me, but I strongly dislike when people shove their beliefs down other people's throats, and anti-theists seem to do that. I have no problem with atheists, but it's when they turn to anti-theists and bash people for their beliefs is when I get an issue with them. No one should have their beliefs forcefully changed just because someone else doesn't agree with it.

My philosophy is, you believe what you want to but allow me to believe what I want. Learn to coexist.

It's a strange line I teeter on between Atheist and Antitheist...I don't really believe in anything spiritual, religious or paranormal. But I'm not vehemently against those beliefs. I am, however, against the extremists that exist in every belief system. Believe what you want, no matter how illogical, as long as you don't harm or harass others with it there is no problem. But as soon as these institutions get involved in government and education, that's when it's gone too far.

Agreed! And hating something doesn't make one right. I despise that type of argument, and that's unfortunately the kind of conversation I get when speaking with overzealous religious people. The ones that approach you on public transportation or on the street.

I've had a guy, so adamant about converting me, follow me for two miles before giving up. Another got angry with me because he couldn't answer my contradictions, as I made it a requirement that he could not use the bible or "everything around us" as "proof of God's existence." He was so angry with me that I had to actually physically defend myself from his pathetic punches. I didn't hurt him, just blocked his punches and pinned him to the ground. I cannot imagine giving myself that kind of mental exercise, that "I HAVE to do everything within my power to try to convert this person...even if it means losing all dignity."
